Rye Fields build so far
Well, the model is finished -at least I decided to stop. The masks have come off – the results are OK, but not as good as I expected. Some weathering was done, but not much, beforehand, and I sprayed on a coat of flat varnish before touching the mask.
There will be another post with the Takom Panther, and a final one comparing them; and finally these kits are finished. With the RFM Panther I felt the model was actively fighting me several times; it is a very ambicious model, but it sure has its shortcomings. More on that in a final comparison post.
Love that- really impressive.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thank you. It has been a struggle at times, and there are plenty of things I do not like about it (on my work on the model: paintwork, mostly), but I could not get myself to fix them. It is done 🙂

A year after finishing the AM Ferdinand l finally started building its ‘successor’ the Jagpanther G2: the interior kit from RFM. This of course shares a lot of parts with your Panther G and is therefor quite comparable. After only a few stages l think l am beginning to understand what you mean by ‘lt feels like the model is constantly fighting me…’

Dear Peter, this is why I bought the Takom Jagdpanther… I was worried this would be the case. Regardless the detail is astonishing, so there’s that…

Right you are: detail galore: the result will no doubt be great. I really love details so l’m in for a treat. And a battle. I also watched the SSM (Scully’s) videos on Youtube: interesting but lacking critisism a bit. He makes it look like a piece of cake. Well: it’s not. But then, l have only 40 years of tank building behind me😏
